Wildcat Camp (Point Reyes) Backpacking and Hiking

(November 2011)

Troop 109 loved Wildcat Camp so much that Scouts wanted to return, this time led by the Flaming Stickman Patrol and traveling from the southern Palomarin Trailhead route. Very different views with spectacular ocean vistas and gorgeous lakes. Hiking 5.5 miles there took a leisurely 4 hours in the sun, followed by the 2-mile roundtrip beach hike to Alamere Falls. However, by dinner, the rain was coming down, followed by a stormy and windy night where tents were tossed around like tumbleweeds. The return 5.5-mile hike, over 3 hours, to the car was motivated by the rain which followed us the entire way. Wet but glad to be back at the cars to warm up!
